12 Hours by 12 Weeks

We are on day 3 of 12 Hours by 12 weeks, I started a few weeks late but this baby girl should be sleep trained in 2 weeks! I was doing baby wise but it was really hard to consistently let my baby girl cry it out for up to 40-50 mins! I would be on the chronicles of a Babywise mom blog all the time trying to figure things out, while her blog was helpful I just felt like I needed to do something else. My friend from church told me about this book and I love it soo much more! It is straight and to the point and tells you exactly what to do. And even better....when you lay your baby to sleep awake after 5 mins of crying you go in rub their tummy or do other things to let your baby know you are right there, as soon as she calms down you leave and just repeat until she falls asleep, we started doing this yesterday instead of the Babywise method she has only cried 15 mins max and then falls asleep! Way better!

We are on Day three on working out daytime schedule and so far she has been great at waking up at the time I want her to in the morning and feeding at her scheduled feeding times! Hopefully next week we will eliminate her 5:00 am feeding and we will have a 12 hour sleeper at night!

Utah has been beautiful this week! So we decided to go on a nice stroll around our neighborhood and park. I seriously can't wait for summer, I swear if it snows again i might die.

this day was a special day. so many people who love you waited so long for this day to come.

on february 10th 2011 i woke up really sick with a cold and called in sick to work. i was almost 39 weeks pregnant and being sick on top of that was rough. i slept most of the day, watched some tv, felt you kick inside of me and slept some more. peter came home around 5:30 made me some food and we laid in bed and watched some of our favorite tv shows together. around ten i started having some contractions that were 3 minutes apart. i started reading in my “what to expect when expecting” about the signs of labor, we were on the computer googling labor vs. false labor. we decided to wait for 2 hours and if it got stronger then maybe i was indeed in labor. i decided to take a shower in case we were going to the hospital and it helped ease the conraction pains.

the contractions started getting stronger and stronger. around 1 in the morning i called my mom to ask her if she thought i was in labor and to pack her backs because this baby might be here soon! after they kept getting more painful i decided to wake up my sleeping husband and go to the hospital. he talked me into letting him shave and take a shower first and after 15 minutes i was regretting that decision. peter was so excited as we drove to the hospital while i told him to drive faster and “run that freaking light no one is up at 2 am!” (he didn’t). we made it to the hospital around 2:15 and they submitted me to triage and hooked me up to the heart monitor and contraction sensors and then checked my cervix. i was still a 1.5! I had been a 1.5 for 2 and a half weeks! the nurse told me i had to be a 2 to be admitted. then around 5 am the nurse came in and said she would force it into a 2 so that i could be admitted and get my epidural since i was in so much pain! this nurse was my angel. i was in so much pain i wanted to die and she saved me. the nurse anesthetist was already there and i got my epidural by 5:30 yes! didn’t feel a thing!

as soon as i got admitted peter called my parents and told them to book a flight because our little girl is coming today! my mom barely made her flight and hayden and my dad missed it but got on the next one 2 hours later. my cousin amy was the first one to get to the hospital, she was going to take photos of the big day, we had talked about this day for a long time, she was paranoid that she was going to miss it, so was my mom. around this time dr. watabe came in and broke my water and i really started moving.

alexa picked my mom up from the airport and by this time i was dialted to an eight when i talked to my mom on the phone and told her this she was like “alexa drive faster we are going to miss it!” they ended up getting there in plenty of time. around 11:30 am I was ready to push. peter grabbed one leg and the nurse the other and after 35 minutes of pushing you were in my arms at 12:05 pm. it was the neatest thing i have ever experienced and the happiest moment when i finally met you miss adelaide rose.

We are so in love with this little girl we can hardly stand it! Peter wanted to quit his job so he could stay home with me and little Adelaide, but reality set in. He has been such a great help and loves snuggling with her and even offers to stay up with her and change diapers. I love this man.

Finally I am posting about our kitchen redo! As you can see the previous colors were hideous so I wanted to freshen it up with white paint and beadboard (its textured, paintable wallpaper) and new paint on the walls, Peter also installed canned lighting which I love! It was alot of work and alot of painting but I am so glad I got it finished before I got pregnant, I still need to do a lot like getting a window treatment for above the sink and a chandalier for over the table, I think a chandelier would look a lot better then that airplane propellor looking fan! We have also since this picture gotten some bar stools.

My talented cousin Amy did the cutest little man party for her little man Beckham. I designed the Invites and the rest of the print items, we did that cute little banner, the ties, the food place cards and the root beer bottle labels which i love! I googled old man sayings and my favorite was "getting old ain't for sissies!" She did I great job with the table layout and mustache food! Love it!

Here I am at 30 weeks! 10 more to go and I haven't even touched the nursery! Does this make me a bad mom? Everything is going great besides still being nauseous but I am thankful it isn't as bad as it was. This little bambina is kicking like crazy! If we scratch or tickle where feels like a bum or back she will kick back, it is so fun and totally entertains us. We can't wait to meet and see what she looks like!

Here she is! Our healthy little girl was sitting indian style with her little bum in the air during the whole ultrasound! We are so excited to meet her, Peter is already worried that she will have him wrapped around her little finger and give her whatever she wants! The next 20 weeks can't go by fast enough!

In August my parents took us to Costa Rica. It was so beautiful... we fed wild monkeys saw a crocodile, there were these weird cows roaming the dirt roads, delish mahi mahi. Everyone went zip-lining and horseback riding except me and Peter. The prego isn't allowed to have fun:( Besides eating every second of the trip it was pretty fun and I would definitely recommend it as a vacation spot!

My little Brother Mason is all grown up and on a Mission! He left in July when I was in peak morning sickness mode but it was good to seem him off! He will be serving a mission in the Mexico City East Mission. He is still waiting for his Visa and off to Mexico he goes but until then he is still in the MTC and quickly learning Spanish and forgetting English.

Can't wait for Peter to change his first diaper, he insists he won't have to, but I am not that obliging. We are so excited to welcome our first baby February 19th 2011! I have been on super blogging hiatus due to aweful morning sickness! Nothing helped really and I tried everything, but luckily it is slowly getting better and I am not throwing up everyday anymore. Last Weekend was my graduation! Wahoo I am finally free! My family came up for it and it was so good to see everyone. We had a nice little graduation party at our house then on Sunday we went up to my Aunt and Uncles house to have dinner and hang out. I love my family, wish we were closer!

So in March we went to Temecula for my mom's 50th birthday. My dad flew us in and we woke her up in the middle of the night and surprised her, little did she know more surprises were to come. On Friday me, my mom and lex went to HomeGoods (my favorite) the mall, saw The Bounty Hunter (which was really funny, but I was bugged about the strip club part, totally unnecessary) anyways, we told her we had a dinner reservation at Bailey's and she really wanted to go home and change before so we were like, okay I guess, but lets get a pedicure first! We ended up cutting it pretty close so we ran home and my mom goes marching into the house and SURPRISE! She was totally shocked and didn't really say anything to the 40+ people in her kitchen. It was so fun! Then the Next day we went to coronado beach and just hung out and had fun with the whole family!

HAVISU
This past weekend we went to Havisupai with Derek and Krystal, Derek is a good fried of Peter's from the mission. So last month I was working out so I wouldn't be sore and thinking I was being all prepared for this hike, but I didn't do any walking, running or biking, little did I know this would be my demise...

We woke up early friday morning and started our decent, it is about 2 miles of switchbacks and then it it relatively flat until the last 2 miles. Everything was nice, it was a little chilly in the shade but we were having fun, but I started feeling sick, I had felt this encroaching cold coming the past day and a half and just took emergen-C and hoped for the best. Then at around 7 miles my hips started aching, with every step it was hard to lift my legs, later I would find this to be my hip-flexor. We got to the village which was a sorry little village, mules, donkeys and horses looked to be on the brink of starvation and had matted hair, the homes were tiny and broken down, it made me so thankful to live in a nice area! We stayed there for an hour and ate lunch and then continued to the campsite which is 2 miles away. After resting, starting up again was a bad idea! It was so painfully hard for me to walk! I looked like an old woman with osteoporosis! Let me tell you what a wake up call this was! MOM I WILL NOW TAKE CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS! Peter would carry me on his back as far as he could then I would shuffle along, and then get carried. We finally made it to camp around 1 and set up and took a "nap" I woke up feeling aweful around six, ate dinner that my sweet hubs made me and went back to bed till 9:30 in the morning. I was SOOO bummed to be sick! I wanted to hike down to Mooney falls and have fun with everyone else, I was feeling so left out so I asked Peter for a blessing and BAM! I felt way better and hiked down to mooney falls. This is a treacherous hike, one little slip and you are DEAD, it is like straight up and down, and you have to climb down a rickety ladder SCARY. So we made it, had fun in the water, went back up to Havisu falls and laid out and then played games and had a blast!

The next day was the hike out and there was no way I would have made it. If I was forced to hike out I think I would have stolen a horse or something. Luckily there is a helicopter so me and Krystal flew out while the Boys hiked out in a speedy time of 2.20 hours. I am so glad I went because it was so much fun. If anyone is considering going, next time I would go in June b/c its warmer and I would bring an air mattress.

We had Peter's family over for dinner and it was so fun! I was excited to finally put all the leaves in our table. Becky and I did all the cooking and everything was so delish. After dinner Spencer and Lisa came over and we played games and hung out while all the cousins ran around, it was a loud night! I made the napkin holders and the mint boxes (left over from Alexa's wedding) which was a nice touch to the table. It was an all around success for hosting my first Thanksgiving! Who ever thought you could cook for such a long amount of time!

It wasn't as dramatically romantic as this, but pretty darn close! We love our new home and all the wonderful things about being homeowners. A few things I have learned since moving in...
1. Try to avoid moving in the middle of a 16 upper division credits semester--This equals stress and skimping on homework.
2. If Peter and I ever build a house together, we might kill each other before its finished. Holy Cow that boy has opinions in where usually the wife takes control. i.e. DECORATING. We have totally opposing styles and tastes. It took us 3 weeks to find a dinning table and chairs that we both liked. I still love him.
3. Peter is actually good at fixing things. I had no idea because we never really had to fix things around our apartment and I always fix technical things with the computers.
4. It takes exactly 30 mins from my house to the Benson Building for church. Sundays I now feel like I am driving alot, especially on Break the Fast Sundays.
5. Don't go over 30mph on the road to our house. YOU WILL GET A TICKET.
6. I love being home, just because its all ours!
7. I absolutely LOVE my office! Can't wait to paint it.
8. We have an extra spare bedroom for any welcome guests!

Anyways we have been super busy and loving every minute of it, (even when we are disagreeing on barstools and curtains)

New things with us: Our good friend Bret moved in with us while he prepares for a mission, both of us try to claim him as a little brother. Peter now has a live in buddy that will go play basketball and snowboard with him whenever he wants... I have a feeling I will be seeing him a little less this winter. And Lastly we head to California soon for my favorite sisters wedding!

My First Print Job/Summer Update

Exciting things have been happening this summer! 1. We have been house hunting like crazy around Utah, 2. we are now in a singles ward (no worries we are not divorced!) which keeps us super busy but I LOVE it! There are so many activities and lots of food,and new friends, I think I have gained five pounds over the last few months. 3. My baby sister moved in with us and is engaged! 4. Peter wants to announce that he bought a snowboard. 5. We went to St. George for a weekend to play with Derek and Krystal and learned to GROUT! which is awesome because I want to tile my own backsplash or something!! 6. I am almost done with school!!! 7. THE MOST IMPORTANT...

I got a new wide format epson printer which I absolutely love!!! It can print up to 13x19 so I can put multiple things on a page and cut them down. When you give a girl a printer you need too buy... a cutter which comes with a scoring blade and a perforating blade, (at this point I am in heaven!) When you buy a girl a printer you also need to buy a continuous ink system, so you don't have to be ripped off by epson ink cartridges! Those things cost an arm and a leg! When you buy a girl a printer you also have to buy lots of 12x18 thick and textured paper! So after the printer and all the fun accessories I can pretty much do anything! On the downside... I am totally running out of room in my bedroom since lex is now occupying my used-to-be office. Which in turn makes us more eager to find a house.

It has been a great summer, and unfortunately Labor Day marks the end of summer for me. I will miss you. I will miss the sun. I will miss my tan skin. I will miss not wearing a million layers. Goodbye summer.

Japanese Game Show

I LOVE lake powell! We went with my mom's side of the Family, the Duffins, we went on my Uncle Dave's house boat. (Thanks Dave and Connie!) Everyone was there except 2 siblings out of the 7. It was so much fun hanging out with family, wake boarding, wake surfing, kayaking, and getting tan! This is an annual event for Peter and I, we have gone with my family every year since we have been dating so here is to year 4! I have been married to this wonderful man for 3 years! We celebrated our 3 year anniversary last tuesday, we went out to dinner up at sundance at a restaurant called the Foundry Grill. It was delish. These past 3 years have gone so fast, I wonder where we will be in 3 more years, I am sure our lives will be very different!

Digital Painting Project

This was a mixed media project so i had to mix traditional(painting which I did for the sky) photographs and photoshop painting and we had to pick an event in history so i did the building of the pyramids. Do the Pharaoh look familiar? Peter was my model, i put a sheet on his head and took pictures of him. He was not very cooperative!

I am a basketball widow this week. What is a Basketball widow? Someone who doesn't see her husband all week because he has basketball games. Peter has had 5 Basketball games this week and its only Wednesday! And these aren't just pick up games. Organized with refs and teams. He had 3 on Monday one yesterday and one today. I don't go because I already am swamped with homework and 5 games is alot of support so I have opted not to go to any. Maybe next week...

Glitter Pumpkins!

This Weekend we Babysat my 4 adorable cousins(ages 2-10) while my parents and their parents traveled Europe. While they were gone we made pretty glitter pumpkins because these little girls love anything pretty and princessy. These were very easy to make and a lot less work then carving pumpkins. First you paint elmers glue on the pumpkin and then sprinkle glitter all over. The finer the glitter the better!

Peter & I went to a church broadcast last night about Marriage and urging any californians who still have residency to vote yes on proposition 8, and to spread the word to friends and family. These are a few main points that I did not know about Proposition 8 until last night.
1. Having tolerance without condoning.
We can love someone while still maintaining and advocating our standards and beliefs.
2.Unless Proposition 8 passes, California society will soon undergo a profound change in its basic understanding of marriage and family life.
That will affect everyone in numerous ways. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs.
3. Proposition 8 will not hurt gays.
In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.
4. Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children.
If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.
5. Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches.
The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family.

On the fourth we had a bbq with some friends and watched fireworks and while we were watching fireworks we look over and there is this huge cloud of smoke and sirens so we left the show to go look at the fire and you can barely see it in the picture, but a park in provo caught on fire! I have never been that close to a fire before it was crazy!

Utah Summer Games

The first picture is me and Peter in Vegas celebrating our 2 year anniversary. Last weekend Peter and some friends from UVU went down to Cedar City for the Utah State Summer Games and played in the collegiate basketball tournament and won the Gold! the girls also got gold medals for being honorary coaches. (We were more like cheerleaders and photographers) So here is a picture of peter dunking and then, him and his team with their medals. They are all so proud!

2 Year Anniversary

So we took a trip to Las Vegas and stayed at the Luxor and saw Lance Burton, it was so much fun! and then after that we drove down to CA and visited family and friends! and finally got to eat the top of our wedding cake! My Own Packaging!

I made this for my 3D design class, it was such a fun project! I designed the labeling on my computer, made a template and put it together! My next and last 3D design project... a cardboard CHAIR that is full size and has to support my weight! I am a little nervous, hopefully it will turn out ok!

Playa del Carmen

Last week we went to Playa del Carmen (which is an hour south of Cancun, Mexico) with my family! We had soo much fun! We went to the ancient Mayan Ruins, Scuba Diving! I don't have pictures of that yet! We went to the beach, took a ferry over to cozumel island and went snorkeling walked around town and learned some spanish. We didn't bring my camera because it broke a month ago and then my parents camera got dropped in the sand the first day... so we went old school with disposable cameras:( We had a blast and wish we were still there! Thanks Mom & Dad!

More Packaging/Sugar Free!

So I have this packaging assignment coming up for my 3D design class and i have been doing a lot of research and i love this packaging! Why is all my favorite packaging of treats you ask?? Currently I am on a Sugar Fast! Yes it has been extremely difficult, No i am not trying to lose weight! I realized last month that I am a sugar addict (Hi my name is Natalie...) when i went to Del Taco and ate five churros in one week! (Spread out!) So I decided to go with out sugar for a whole month! and to keep myself motivated a get $200 to Nordstrom!! I am on day 24!!! The first week was the hardest but i really feel good now, I have more energy and i am going to try to eat less sugar after this month is over! 6 more days to go!!

In my 3D Design class I made this couch all out of scrapbook paper and glue, and i made the pineapple out of mat board and hot glue. It is really tricky cutting mat board and making everything fit together but it was a lot of fun!

Alexa Flew up to up to Utah this weekend and we went to a Colbie Caillat Concert!!! It was so much fun! She sounds so good LIVE! She sang us a few new songs and i wish i could get them! After we went to CPK and next to us was a member of the band according to Alexa was "the hot one" but we were to shy to get a pic with him. I love Colbie's music! Thanks Lex for coming with me!
